Information architecture PDF Print E-mail

Information architecture implies the way information is grouped, how it will be navigated and the wording used within the site.  This is established through a process that looks at the user, the content and the context of the business.

Various methods are called on during the research phase, and ultimately the site structure and strategy is based upon the research conducted.  There are various methods of research, such as card sorting, stakeholder interviews, and surveys that are used.

We can assist you with various parts of this process, or the whole process in completion. The full information architecture process is recommended for large scale website designs or re-designs. Professional information architecture will lead to a website that:

  • Supports user and business goals
  • Uses terminology that the user understands
  • Will be supported by a business strategy, which will also assist in the maintenance of the site by providing specific goals
  • Will provide a specific structure which will make the maintenance of the site easier by avoiding ad hoc content additions
