SEO implies methods through which the volume of traffic to your site is improved; it looks at how search engines work and what keywords people search for.

You want your website to be viewed and users want to view the information they are actually looking for. In the end, this can be a win win situation.

Design and content guidelines:

  • Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link.
  • Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.
  • Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.
  • Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. Crawlers doesn't recognize text contained in images. If you must use images for textual content, consider using the "ALT" attribute to include a few words of descriptive text.
  • Make sure that your <title> elements and ALT attributes are descriptive and accurate.
  • Check for broken links and correct HTML.
  • Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).
  • Review our image guidelines for best practices on publishing images
  • Really think about page titles and heading being used in your site. Make sure they are meaningful, and would make sense out of context.
  • Cross link to other pages within your website.
  • Writing content that includes frequently searched keyword phrase, so as to be relevant to a wide variety of search queries. Adding relevant keywords to a web page metatags.
  • A large site can get a higher pagerank; this is due to the amount of links and keywords they can control.
  • Do not duplicate content
  • Do not hide links, and overload metatags with keywords. View keywords being searched for on Google
