Get me thinking about my website PDF Print E-mail

Who is the site for?

Who do you think will want to look at the site? Who will benefit from knowing about your business? Who are your potential users?

Do you have a logo, any brand guidelines?

This must be provided to assist in with the visual design. If you do not have this, then we can work together and design a logo, or put together brand guidelines for you.

What should your site look like?

Should it have a professional corporate look, or a community relaxed look, or just a online brochure? This is directly linked to ‘who the site is for’

What do you want from your site?

Do you want to provide general information such as contact details, or tell potential clients about your products? Maybe you want to generate leads, or use the site to drive promotions? Or to use your site to showcase your services, and have a 24/7 shopfront?

Branding and the look of my website PDF Print E-mail

Your site should reflect your brand. Your brand should be built up through repetition and consistency in what it looks like. The same colour scheme and wording should flow through from you business cards, stationary, newsletters and on every page on your website.

Your website colour scheme / look and feel must be part of your website planning phase. Who your site is aimed at should drive what it looks like, e.g. is the site for professionals or students?  Should my site have a community feel or a corporate feel? Users perceive the whole package when browsing the site. Thus the content, graphic scheme and look of the site should support your business goals.

Content writing tips PDF Print E-mail

Before you sit down and write your content, think about how people read online:

  • Most people are in a hurry. Give the most crucial information first.
  • Some people are very task orientated. So make sure to provide them with you core business information up front.
  • Most people scan over text and look for keywords to indicate usefulness. Keep sentences and paragraphs short and use bulleted lists where possible.

Plan your content

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What is the purpose of the content?
  • Who am I writing it for?
